Denbigh Golf Club is a proper parkland test above the Vale of Clwyd, and the players who use it tend to know their handicap and want to lower it. What the Vale is short on is a full custom-fitting studio. Stuart Runcie Golf, 25 minutes down the A525 and A548 corridor, is the nearest.
The drive from Denbigh is 25-30 minutes. Head north on the A525 to St Asaph, join the A55 eastbound at Junction 27, hold it for three junctions, exit at Junction 24 for Abergele. Alternatively the A548 coastal road runs direct into Abergele from Rhyl for the same time in lighter traffic.
The Vale of Clwyd throws a specific challenge at Denbigh players — the course sits at altitude with regularly changing wind and firmness. A driver that works in still July conditions is often 10 yards short in a Vale autumn breeze; irons that spin well on soft ground overspin on the firm run-outs of high summer. A Trackman 4 fitting at the studio reads all of it — launch, spin, dispersion, carry — so the clubs you leave with match how you actually play, not how a magazine review reads.
Fitting fee is £100, refundable in full against any set of clubs ordered on the day. Every major brand is held for demo. For coaching, Stuart is a PGA Fellow Professional and holds the combined TPI Level 3 + Junior Level 2 stack — one of only four in the UK. Denbigh juniors have progressed through the programme onto county-level squads.
